Warriors Advance To The Western Conference Finals As Raptors Take 3-2 Series Lead Over Miami Heat

The Golden State Warriors have eliminated the Portland Trail Blazers from the NBA playoffs, despite injuries to key big men Australian Andrew Bogut and Draymond Green.

After an intense second-half struggle, back-to-back NBA MVP Stephen Curry led the Warriors to the 125-121 win on Wednesday in Oakland.Curry scored 10 of the Warriors’ last 12 points to extinguish the Trail Blazers and take the Western Conference semi-final series 4-1.Centre Bogut slipped and strained his right groin late in the second quarter and did not return, while Green tweaked his left ankle and went to the locker room, but finished the game, The Thunder lead 3-2 and can knock out the Spurs on Thursday with a win in Oklahoma City although, if San Antonio are victorious, it will be decided with a game seven on Sunday on their home court.

In the Eastern conference,  DeMar DeRozan matched a playoff high with 34 points, Kyle Lowry had 25 and the Toronto Raptors beat the Miami Heat 99-91 on Wednesday night to take a 3-2 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.Bismack Biyombo had 10 points for the Raptors, who can clinch their first conference finals berth with a win in Game 6 in Miami on Friday.It was DeRozan’s franchise-best 13th 20-point game in the playoffs and his sixth this postseason. Dwayne Wade scored 20 for Miami, Goran Dragic and Josh Richardson each had 13 and Joe Johnson 11.

Toronto led by 20 in the first half and by 13 to start the fourth quarter before its lead shrunk to 88-87 when Wade made a pair of free throws with 1:54 left. DeRozan made a pair of free throws and, after a Miami turnover, Lowry made a long 3-pointer to put Toronto up 93-87 with 52 seconds left.DeRozan sealed it by going 4 for 4 on his free throws in the final 21 seconds.
