Sevilla have confirmed that coach Unai Emery has confirmed he want to terminate his contract as the clubs head coach.
Emery has been linked with a number of clubs this summer after guiding Sevilla to a third straight Europa League title, and news of his departure comes amid reports that he is Paris St Germain‘s preferred choice to replace Laurent Blanc if the Ligue 1 champions make a change this summer.
A statement from Sevilla on Sunday said: “Sevilla FC has received a formal communication from the lawyers of Unai Emery in which we are informed it is Emery’s intention to unilaterally terminate his employment with Sevilla due to his desire not to continue in his role of coach of the first team for the 2016/17 season.”

The statement added that Sampaoli is due in Seville on Monday to begin contract talks over replacing Emery.Emery was earlier this summer linked with Everton, who appear instead poised to appoint Southampton’s Ronald Koeman, but PSG would give him Champions League football and a chance to compete for domestic silverware.
Although Blanc remains in position in Paris, club president Nasser al-Khelaifi said last month that there could be significant changes at the club after describing the season just finished, in which PSG won a domestic treble but were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals, as a “failure”.
