Over the weekend, we reported that Arsenal’s bid for Alexandre Lacazette, was turned down by Lyon, as the offered amount of £31.8m, was seen as an insult for striker.
New reports emerging, points to the fact that Asene Wenger, is hell bent on buying over Lacazette, as he has stepped up his game with the aim of putting an end to his summer long search for an experienced striker.
With Arsenal beating Mexico’s leading club Chivas to a 3-1 score, Arsene Wenger, has also been reported to be pursing Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi, for an additional experienced cover.
The team, who were in Los Angeles, over the weekend, are expected back in the United Kingdom today, hopefully with an improved bid for Lacazette, as all intentions are to have him in the Premier League game against Liverpool on August 14.
Weighing in on the transfer news, Wenger said:
We have not closed any deal with anybody at the moment. That is basically the answer. If you speak about Mustafi or anyone else, we haven’t concluded anything
I can understand you want answers but I am not ready to come out on any names. We have Gabriel and Mertesacker out and Koscielny still on holiday. So we have a look at everybody and one of the three young defenders might play from the start of the season. They will at least be in the squad.
At the moment, I will have a look at everybody and then make my final decision but it is true that (Rob) Holding has adapted very well and quickly (after arriving from Bolton). All three have top quality and all three miss a little bit of experience. We have to make a decision in two weeks.
Speaking on Wilshere’s injury, he said:
It’s a slight patella problem but I think he should be with us on tour on Thursday (for games against Viking and Manchester City). I hope he will, yes.
