So, the president is back and we all couldn’t be happier at this news.
His coming back, has however woken up several feelings following his statement on being in a wrestling mood. Mr President actually said he is in a super heavyweight wrestler mood and he is ready to wrestle anyone that challenge him.
This statement only became clearer to me following the step taking by EFCC on Monday against Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose. We recall he had his account frozen by the anti-corruption organisation.
Announcing your grand arrival on any wrestling scene will definitely bring attention and to keep this attention on, one needs to wrestle the biggest opponent there is and who better fits that bill other than ,Mr. Ayo Fayose himself.
Here is a carefully selected list of individuals that have faced the vendetta or is still facing the vendetta of President Buhari.
- Governor Ayodele Fayose
Is there anyone who has criticized the President more than Fayose? The Ekiti state originator of ‘stomach infrastructure’ has used every given opportunity to criticize the president.
Recall, it was Fayose that did a SUN Newspaper full page advert where he claimed that Buhari will be just like Yar’Adua and he won’t survive his first tenure, urging Nigerians to vote for the then incumbent President Jonathan. Earlier this week, EFCC froze the personal account of Fayose.
Will such actions receive perception as a vendetta or we are to believe it is an investigation, like the anti-graft agency called it? Well, I guess you know best.
- Mr. Femi Fani Kayode
Another individual that have faced and could be said is still is facing the wrath of the president, is Mr Fani Kayode. The former aviation minister is a known vocal critique of president Buhari.
He has published many books on popular print and online media, where he voiced his concerns for most of the President’s policy. Did ‘FFK’ get Scott free for his ‘loudmouth’ tendencies? The obvious answer is “No” for he is still cooling heels in DSS detention.
- Chief Olisa Metuh
Metuh’s crime was the collection of #400m from the ‘all friendly’ Dasuki. Even when the court placed the bail of Chief Metuh at almost the same amount he allegedly received from Col. Dasuki, Metuh is still facing trial. An accession that points towards a personal grudge or better still you can say “vendetta”.
While the president can’t be directly linked to Metuh’s case, one can’t overrule his interest in the Olisa Metuh’s case, since he happens to be the spokesperson of the leading opposition party.
4.Mr Nnamdi Kanu
The leader of the IPOB group, Nnamdi Kanu has been in detention for some months now despite meeting bail conditions placed by a court of competent jurisdiction handling his case with the FG.
Kanu is no fan of the president, neither the latter a fan of Kanu. So it came as no surprise during the first media chat of the president when he mentioned Kanu’s offence as an “abomination” and in the process commenting on a case that is ongoing.
- High Chief Raymond Dokpesi:
Dokpesi is not a politician neither is he involved in the cumbersome politicking processes in Nigeria. He is a media personality, yet he finds himself in the “vendetta list” of the president. A list he finds himself due to the role played by his TV station, AIT, during the 2015 presidential campaign.
AIT literally aired documentaries that focused on character assassination of the president.
So one can guess that now that Buhari is on seat, he has come for his pound of flesh from the owner of AIT, Raymond Dokpesi, and I guess he got it really really well.
Do you think there is someone on our list that is not supposed to be there, or there is someone we have not added, do let us know in the comment section.
