Serena Williams crashed out of the Miami Open Tournament on Monday, March 28th, after losing to world number 19, Svetlana Kuznetsov. The quarter final match was expected to end with Serena as the winner but Svetlana Kuznetsov did well to cause an upset. The top ranked tennis star, Serena was left devastated after the fourth round following a 6-7 (7-3) 6-1 6-2 loss. Serena struggled in the match with nine double faults, and six breaks for Kuznetsov. Serena fell to the Russian with 55 unforced errors and several other mistakes.
In a post-match interview, Serena Williams said ”I did the best I could”. She continued by saying, ”I cannot win everything. These players come out and play me like they’ve never played before in their lives. I have to be 300 per cent everyday.” Serena spoke concisely before she brought the interview to an abrupt end.
Meanwhile the winner of the match, Svetlana Kuznetsov enjoyed every bit of the victory. She went on to express her respect for the world number one, Serena Willams. In an interview, Kuznetsov said, ” she is still the world number one and she still plays great”.
The 34 year old star would be looking to bounce back from this upset and claim future trophies to further beautify her enthralling career.
