Tennis: Nigeria, Egypt to battle again

Fresh from the soccer encounter between the two nations in the AFCON qualifier, Nigeria and Egypt are set to clash in the 2016 ITTF African junior & cadet championship. The competition is scheduled to hold between April 6 to April 12 in Algeria.

According to information released by the ITTF, the seven day tournament would host countries from a wide range of countries.15 events would be competed for at the tournament. Asides the battle for supremacy for the African championship, slots allocated to the continent for the 2016 World ITTF championship  would be tussled for by the participating teams. This therefore serves as a qualifier for the three slots to the world tennis championship scheduled to hold in Pretoria, South Africa later this year.

Egypt’s Youssef Abdel-Aziz and Nigeria’s Amadi Omeh are expected to be the stars of the competition. Algeria’s Sannah Lasgir is also expect to shine at the games, after his fantastic performance at the 2015 edition of the championship in Mauritius. The Algerian star successfully halting the dominance of Egypt in the competition.

The competition is  another promising sporting event in the continent, where the sporting giants would slug it out.
