Samsung is gearing up to reveal its latest smartwatch to the world.
The tech giant is pre-empting arch rival Apple, which is widely expected to launch a new version of the Apple Watch later this year.
Invitations went out to selected media for a Samsung event at the IFA trade show in Berlin on Wednesday, August 31. The invitation (pictured above) leaves little to the imagination, thanks to the “Talk about 3” caption and an image of a round clock face.
Last year’s Samsung Galaxy S2 won plenty of praise thanks to its round clock face and clever navigation system, which lets you navigate menus by rotating the bezel.
This year’s model is expected to have the same design, but with an improved 250mAh internal battery so it goes longer without charging. The Gear S3 is also likely to run Tizen Samsung’s own wearable operating system.
What’s not certain is whether or not it will have 3G connectivity as standard meaning you could use its features without having to have your smartphone nearby.
