PSG Star Sentenced To Two Months In Jail

The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international, who has been regularly in trouble with his club, was alleged to have “insulted and hit a police officer” as he left a nightclub on the Champs Elysées on May 30th this year.

The player “elbowed” the policeman in the throat after being stopped in his car, according to reports.

Police officers wanted to Aurier to be breathalyzed to check the level of alcohol in his blood. In their witness statements they described him as “contemptuous” and “belligerent”.

It was when Aurier got out of his car that he elbowed the officer.

He was taken into custody at a police station near the Champs Elysees for “deliberate violence against a person of public authority.

The player always denied the charge and insisted he was roughly treated by officers. He pressed his own charges for alleged police violence.

According to reports in the French press Aurier will not be sent behind bars because his sentence will be “converted” into a fine.

There is nothing in the player’s punishment however that stops him from playing in PSG’s next match in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The player immediately stated he would appeal the verdict and the court allowed him to walk free.
