Nigeria president Mohammadu Buhari has held a closed door meeting with former president Goodluck Jonathan over the menace of the Niger Delta militants.

The meeting between Buhari and Jonathan was said to have been brokered by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Jonathan, who had returned from Cote D’Ivoire on Wednesday, was allegedly reassured by the President that neither him nor his wife, Patience will be arrested in the ongoing war against corruption.

The two men are believed to have met to discuss the increasing spate of militancy in the Niger Delta region which has caused Nigeria to record its lowest amount of crude output in years.

Goodluck Jonathan is from the Niger Delta region and President Mohammadu Buhari believes Jonathan can have a solid advice on how to end the menace of the Niger Delta militants
