Chelsea vs Liverpool, Friday 8pm;
We will definitely not have to wait till Saturday for the opening game as for the second week running, as we have a Friday game to embrace and a special one as Chelsea look set to welcome Liverpool to Stamford bridge. This has all the elements of being a cracker as both teams have been in good form so far. It will be hard to predict this game because you just never know the Liverpool side that shows up as they are specialists when it comes to playing the big teams, while they never table playing against the small teams seriously. It will be a very tough one and as a pundit, I advise the stakers to just stay away from this game.
Hull City vs Arsenal, Saturday 3pm;
Credit must be and has been given to Mike Phelan for the amazing job he has done at Hull City despite the restraints, deservedly winning the manager of the month of August. His side though welcome Arsene Wengers’ side and it will be a very tough one because Hull City are built on a very solid defensive structure, relying on counter attacks to poke their opponents and expect that to happen. Arsenal last weekend did not look convincing and have not got strikers Giroud and Perez firing so this should be an interesting game to watch for the neutrals.
Leicester City vs Burnley, Saturday 3pm;
Leicester city have not found it nice in the premier league but will be buoyed by their champions league performance in midweek and like Drinkwater said, ‘could be the springboard to their premier league’. Burnley on the other hand, asides their win against Liverpool have been bad, im surprised they’ve not learnt their lesson from their last time in the premier league. This is one of the games Leicester city just cannot afford to drop any point and I don’t think that would be the case either.
Manchester City vs Bournemouth, Saturday 3pm;
Guardiola really seem like somebody on a mission that I just don’t think anybody can stop him anytime soon. Its just scary the Manchester city players have bought into his philosophy and the future just looks scary if other teams do not step up. After defeating Manchester United with relative ease at Old Trafford, they completely destroyed Monchengladbach in the Champions league and does Bournemouth look like the team to stop them? An emphatic NO.
West Brom vs West Ham, Saturday 3pm;
West Brom have just not had a good time and the team looks unsettled following speculations over Tony Pulis’s future. West Ham on the other hand have just not stepped up this season most noteably falling 4-2 last weekend after going 2-0 up in the fixture. The just looks like a confused fixture, one you just cant call, one you just cant predict but one thing is for sure, it would be a boring game.
Everton vs Middlesbrough, Saturday 5:30pm;
You cant help but admire the way Ronald Koeman is transforming this Everton’s side. They played good football under Martinez but good football is never enough if your defence constantly leaks. This is something Koeman has instilled and his team will only get better. Middlesbrough on the other hand have had a mixed season and will be hoping to get back on track as soon as possible. Expect Everton to take this one.
Watford vs Manchester United, Sunday 12:00pm;
After loosing at home to derby rivals Manchester city, they were beaten again in midweek against Feynoord and the signs are just not looking positive at Manchester United. Watford on the other hand finally clicked with an impressive comeback win over West Ham last weekend so expect them to be buoyed by that and give Manchester United a good game. Two losses on the bounce for the red devils, I just don’t see the third one coming now.
Crystal Palace vs Stoke City, Sunday 2:15pm;
They’ve both been in horrible form in the past but Crystal palace will be buoyed by their recent win away from home and no better way for them to continue than a game at home against a depleted Stoke City side. On paper, Stoke City looks like a team that should be challenging the big guns, unfortunately, they are having one of their most horrible starts in their history. Will it continue this weekend? I just think so.
Southampton vs Swansea City, Sunday 2:15pm;
Southampton were somehow unfortunate to loose to an unfortunate last minute penalty against Arsenal last weekend and were quite impressive in their Europa league game in midweek, most importantly getting Charlie Austin scoring again. Swansea city on the other hand have not had an exceptional season but put up a good fight last week against in-form Chelsea. This should be a good game.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Sunderland, Sunday 4:30pm;
Tottenham right now owe their fans for their epileptic display in the Champions league against Monaco and must produce a performance against a Sunderland side that have just been bad this season. David Moyes side have only picked up a point and sit with Stoke City at the bottom of the table. Will there be a surprise in this game. NO. Tottenham to win this one.
