Nigeria’s International Olympic Committee executive member and president of the National Olympic Commitee, Engr, Habu Gumel commended the newly elected president of the Nigerian Archery Federation (NAF), Mohammed Abdullahi over the successful completion of the election.
At the National Lottery Trust Fund headquarters in Maitama Abuja, Gumel expressed delight at the conclusion of the election of the earlier troubled Archery Federation. The success of the election brought new executives to the offices of the NAF, with Mohammed Abdullahi as president, Mrs Helen Osayimwen , 1st Vice President, Ayo Philips, 2nd Vice President, Olatunji Boluji, as secretary general, Osaretin Ermuze as assistant secretary, Mrs Florence Ogunkoya as treasurer and Patrick Ibeh as Public Relations Officer.
Speaking about his intended projects, Abdullahi said Archery as a sports is a technical game but not strange to Nigeria due to its similarities with the traditional hunting. He expressed optimism on the ease of patronage the sport would command. He revealed that his plan for the game is to start from the grassroots to search for talents.
Also present at the meeting were some of the board members of the NAF. This development is expected to facilitate the growth of Archery in Nigeria and the world in general.
