The senate would soon publish the breakdown of its N115 billion budget for 2016, the spokesman of the senate, Senator Abdullahi Sabi said.
Sabi revealed this while addressing journalists in Abuja,he said the breakdown of the National Assembly budget would be contained in the 2016 national budget details which would be released soon.
The lawmaker, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, said the 8th National Assembly was determined to run its affairs transparently by carrying Nigerians along in its legislative and other activities.
He, however, said that he was not aware of any promise made by the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, on a specific date for the publication of the budget breakdown.
He said, “I am not aware of any promise made by the President of the Senate. What I know is that the National Assembly Budget breakdown will be contained in the details of the budget when it is released”.
The Senate has laid so much emphasis on its readiness to run a transparent administration, and therefore, assured that it would make the breakdown of its 2016 budget public.
In spite of this emphasis, the promise which was made by Saraki at several fora last year, and recently re-affirmed has not been fulfilled.
