Mancity Held, Arsenal, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid Claim Vital Wins In Champions League Round Up

It was another enthralling night of Champions league games on Wednesday as Theo Walcott propelled Arsenal to victory while Atletico Madrid ended Ancelloti’s unbeaten run and Barcelona came from behind to claim vital victory in Germany.

Theo Walcott scored twice as Arsenal put in a dominant home display against Basel in the Champions League.It took the Gunners just six minutes to open the scoring as Walcott headed in from Alexis Sanchez’s cutback.The two Arsenal men linked up again as Englishman Walcott drilled low into the net to complete a swift team move.

Celtic claimed their first Champions League Group C point as Pep Guardiola’s perfect record in charge of Manchester City was ended with a 3-3 draw in Glasgow.The hosts led twice in the first half, Moussa Dembele diverting in Erik Sviatchenko’s header and Kieran Tierney forcing an own goal by Raheem Sterling.

Fernandinho’s strike brought City level first time and Sterling showed composure to net the visitors’ second.Nolito equalised for the visitors again after Dembele had netted on the turn.

Atletico Madrid made it two wins out of two in this season’s Champions League and inflicted a first defeat of the campaign with a 1-0 defeat of Bayern Munich.

Both teams came into the game unbeaten in all competitions but Yannick Carrasco’s low strike in the 35th minute ensured the home side finished with their record intact.Antoine Griezmann struck the bar with a penalty and Fernando Torres hit the post with a header for Atletico.Franck Ribery and Robert Lewandowski missed good chances for Bayern.

Marek Hamsik opened the scoring ,Arkadiusz Milik scored his third Champions League goal and Dries Mertens hit two as Napoli established themselves as firm favourites to progress to the last 16 with a comfortable 4-2 victory over Benfica.Goncalo Guedes scored a brilliant goal for the Portuguese side before Salvio added a second consolation goal with a neat finish but they were no match for last season’s Serie A runners-up.

Barcelona came from a goal down to beat Borussia Monchengladbach and make it two wins out of two in this season’s Champions League.They trailed to Thorgan Hazard’s opener in the first half.Substitute Arda Turan fired in the equaliser before Gerard Pique bundled in the winner for the Spanish side.

Edinson Cavani scored twice for PSG to claim a 3-1 victory against Ludogorets. Matuidi scored the other. Viktor Tsygankov earned Dynamo Kiev a 1-1 draw at Besiktas, who had taken the lead through Ricardo Quaresma.
