According to British tabloids, Manchester United’s manager has Louis Van Gaal has been sacked as the coach of the club.

Assistant coaches Albert Stuivenberg and goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek will also vacate their duties alongside the Dutch man. Although Manchester United won the F.A Cup on Saturday and finished the season in fifth position in the premier league, the hierarchy of the club are said to have seen enough of the below par display which has seen the club miss out on the Champions league and scored the lowest number of goals in their premier league history.

Ed Woodward arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex ahead of talks with Van Gaal on Monday morning.The United executive vice-chairman informed Van Gaal he will no longer continue as manager as they look to appoint Mourinho as his successor.Van Gaal’s entire coaching staff were also present as they learned their fate. Van Gaal was followed into United’s training ground by employment lawyer Paul Gilroy QC, who has long worked with the League Managers Association and was in charge of hiring and firing David Moyes as well as hiring Louis Van Gaal.

Rumour now has it Mourinho’s appointment is expected to be confirmed sooner rather than later with his super agent Jorge Mendes already in town. Mourinho who was seen in a boxing game over the weekend was asked about the situation but said he just wanted to congratulate Manchester United on their F.A Cup success and has no other comment.
