Liverpool continued their winning start to pre-season with a 5-0 win over Fleetwood Town at Highbury.
The Reds’ other four summer signings Marko Grujic, Loris Karius, Joel Matip and Sadio Mane – all started, with Lazar Markovic given a chance to press his claims in attack.
Debutant Marko Grujic’s early strike was supplemented by second half goals from Ben Woodburn, Lucas Leiva and Roberto Firmino (2) as Jurgen Klopp’s side dominated against the League One outfit.Liverpool were given a penalty early on, Grujic fouled by Akil Wright in the box. Danny Ings, though, saw his kick saved by Chris Neal.Grujic gave the Reds the lead soon after, converting at the far post after a good move involving Matip, Mane and Alberto Moreno. The Serbian then hit the post with an attempted cross, while Neal denied Dejan Lovren with a flying save.

Klopp made 11 changes at the break and seven minutes into the second half it was 2-0, Lucas releasing Ryan Kent, who squared for 16-year-old Woodburn to sidefoot home.Lucas then made it 3-0, finishing off after good work from the impressive Kent. Firmino added a fourth soon after, following up after Woodburn had been snuffed out.
Woodburn then set up Firmino for a fifth in stoppage time.The Reds are next in action on Sunday, away at Championship side Wigan Athletic, and then visit Huddersfield Town next Wednesday.
