Leroy Sane, has handed in a transfer request at Schalke, in a bid to force a move to one of the top clubs – including Manchester City – who are looking to lure him away from Gelsenkirchen.
Schalke’s sporting director admitted that Sane was on his way out – with the club previously admitting they would only sell if the player lodged a transfer request.City’s hopes of clinching the signing appeared to be dealt a blow when Sane’s father said on Monday that a move to Guardiola’s former club Bayern or Real Madrid were still options.
Veltins-Arena chief Heidel confirmed Sane has requested to leave the Bundesliga club imminently.’Leroy has made it clear, he would like to leave this summer. We will consent to a transfer if Schalke’s conditions are met.’
However, Sane’s chances of regular football with Los Blancos would appear minimal.Whether Sane moves to England, Spain or takes a step up in Germany, it seems clear that the player will not be at Schalke for much longer.
Sane scored nine goals in 42 appearances for Schalke in 2015-16 and featured in Joachim Low’s Germany side that were knocked out in the Euro 2016 semi-finals by France.
Sane is currently in Los Angeles following his Euro 2016 efforts, recently sharing a snap of himself enjoying a dinner with international national team-mate Mesut Ozil.
