Germany Defender Antonio Rudiger Ruled Out Of Euro 2016

Germany has confirmed that 23-year-old Roma central defender Antonio Rudiger has gone down with a suspected anterior cruciate ligament in training and will miss the tournament in France.

Rudiger played 37 matches for Roma in his debut season for the Giallorossi, helping the capital club secure Champions League qualification with a third-place Serie A finish. He earned his first cap for Germany in October of 2014, and has appeared in 11 matches for his country since then.Germany, who are also missing Dortmund pair Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan due to injury, have not yet named a replacement for the Berlin-born defender.Rudiger was widely linked to a transfer away from Roma this summer, with new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte reportedly interested in acquiring his services.
