A gay wedding in DSokoto, has been raided and stopped by policemen in the state.
According to Almustafa Sani, police spokesman, they received a tip-off which led to the raiding. The gay wedding was said to have been raided in the northern city of Sokoto .
Speaking with BBC Hausa, he said:
Police were conducting a thorough investigating with a view to charge the two people arrested for being involved in “unnatural” conduct,
Other people at the ceremony dispersed when police arrived at the venue.
Almustafa Sani, later added that homosexuality is an illegal act under Nigeria’s secular constitution, and Islamic law which is also applied in Sokoto state.
