Real madrid made only one change to their starting eleven, replacing Danilo who was tormented by Draxler in the first leg with ever reliable Carvajal with Zinedine Zidane resisting the temptation to go all out but rather, stIck with his midfield trio of Casemiro,Modric and Kroos, leaving Bale, Benzema and Cristiano as the focal points in attack and it worked with Real madrid controlling the game from the start with BBC running the attack, and the first goal came.A surging run from Carvajal on the right wing till he got to the bye line was then played across goal, the entire Wolfsburg backline missed the ball and it fell kindly for a surging Ronaldo at the back post to score on the 15th minute. Two minutes later, Realmadrid won a corner on the left side, the inswinging corner was met by Ronaldo who nodded past the keeper to score his second goal of the night. The game was tense as Realmadrid knew a goal from Wolfsburg would mean another mountain to climb, they let their foot off the pedal for Wolfsburg to dominate while Realmadrid hit on the counter with Ronaldo and Bale running the channels.

The second half started on about the same pace as Wolfsburg passed the ball around, waiting patiently for that opening but were constantly met by Casemiro and the central back pairing of Ramos and Pepe who frustrated every effort. With fifteen minutes to go,Modric made a surging run through midfield but was felled by Luiz Gustavo with about 25 meters from goal and up stepped Cristiano Ronaldo who bent it inbetween the wall and into the net.The 3-0 had been achieved for them to qualify but they still had a lot of work to do as a single goal from Wolfsburg would knock them out.Wolfsburg made an attacking change, bringing on Dutch international striker Bas Dost for a defender while Realmadrid also brought on Jese Rodriguez for the ineffective Benzema.Eventually, they saw off the game qualifying 3-2 on aggregate with Ronaldo the hero stepping up,when needed the most.

Manchester City also had a lot to do but in the end,the vital 2-2 away draw proved valuable.PSG started with what looked like a strange 3-5-2 to me,with Van der wiel and Maxwell the wing backs while Silva,Marquinhos and Aurier were the centre backs.Di Maria was moved into midfield and Cavani and Ibrahimovic led the attack. Both teams started well, moving forward with pace, then came the first real chance,Aguero put through on goal, tried to dribble the keeper was tripped and the penalty was awarded with the keeper seeing only a yellow card.Unfortunately,Mancity’s hopes were dashed as Aguero missed the spot kick, bending the ball to the far right corner and outside the post, the game continued with Aguero trying very hard, everything Navas did was just awful except his defensive cover. The second half started with PSG applying all the pressure and Mancity holding on with Joe Hart making some crucial saves. Then came the 75th minute,Silva took a shot from the edge of the box,the ball deflected back to him,he placed the ball back to De Bruyne, outside the box,he turned and took a curling shot which went straight into the bottom right hand corner of the net.PSG probbed and did all they could but just couldn’t get a goal in a game they needed two after Mancity had broken the deadlock.
