Premier League weekend round up.

It all served up another interesting weekend in the premier league this weekend as Chelsea continued their dismal form and Sunderland,Newcastle helped themselves with vital wins in their relegation battle.Aston villa finally got relegated and Hurelho Gomes saved two penalties to help Watford to a vital 1-0 win over Westbrom. Here are the weekend round up of the premier league games aguero

Norwich city vs Sunderland (0-3)

This happened to be the most vital game of the weekend as both teams,stuck in a relegation battle had to claim a vital win to boost their chances of survival.The game started in a frantic pace with both teams trying to cancel eachother in every area of the pitch.Sunderland opened the scoring in the first half with Defoe latching on to a cross from the right into the net.The second goal came late in the first half when Borini was felled in the area.The refree pointed to the spot and he stood up and dispatched it into the net.The second half started in the same pace.It was a proper end to end stuff with Norwich doing all they could to claw their way back into the game and Sunderland having to hit on the counter.With men committed forward late in the second half,Sunderland hit on the counter and the ball fell kindly for Watmore who went round the keeper and slotted the ball into the net from a tight angle.Three points sealed for Sunderland who now close the gap on their rivals to one point with a game in hand.

Newcastle vs Swansea city (3-0)

Rafael Benitez claimed a vital first win for Newcastle and boost their relegation chances with an impressive 3-0 win over Swansea.It was expected to be a tough game for Rafael Benitez’s side but they responded in style.The first goal came from a corner kick which was nodded into the net by French man Lascelles,the second goal came from virtually the same way as Swansea yet again couldn’t clear an inswinging corner and Sissoko slotted swiftly into the net.The third goal though came from a counter with Townsend cooly slotting into the net to send Saint James’s park to raptures and give them hope of surviving the relegation battle.

Manchester United vs Astonvilla (1-0)

It was expected to be a very easy game for Manutd and truely it was as Astonvilla barely threatened in the full 90 minutes.The game started with Manchester united patiently passing the ball around patiently waiting for an opening.Astonvilla though defended resolutely,making it hard for Manutd to penetrate in the final third.The goal finally came though,late in the first half,Manutd awarded a freekick around the center circle,Wayne Rooney swung it to the right for Valencia whose infield cross was met by Marcus Rashford who slot it inbetween Brad Guzan’s legs and into the net.The second half started in the same manner with both teams trying hard to get a goal but couldn’t.Manutd get the vital three points while Astonvilla were finally relegated.

Westbrom vs Watford (0-1)

This was a game which both teams had nothing to loose but pride was at stake.Watford got in front in the first half when a low corner was met by Watson who cooly flicked the ball into the net.The second half though produced some moments of brilliance from Watford’s goalkeeper, Hurelho Gomez, as he saved two penalties from Saido Berahino in the second half to preserve their lead and ensure Watford claimed all three points.

Everton vs Southampton (1-1)

This was an opportunity for Everton to appease their fans after a dismal one win in their last ten home games and truely,they were lucky to get a draw in this game as Soutthampton asked all the questions with two balls hiiting the bar and Mane and Tadic being a constant threat to the Everton backline all afternoon.The goal finally came fro Everton though when a corner was deflected out and Funes Mori made no mistake in sending a rasping shot into the met.It didn’t take long for Southampton to equalise though as a good work from the right by Tadic left the ball for Mane who continued his impressive form by equalising eight minutes later.Both sides tried to get a winning goal but couldn’t and Everton has now won just one of their eleven home games to the despair of their fans who made their feelings known throughout the game.

Chelsea vs Manchester city (0-3)

This was supposed to be a cracker but unfortunately,it wasn’t as Chelsea failed to perform.The game started with Mancity asking all the questions with De Bruyne being the driving force and Navas petting some good performance down the right.Chelsea were shabby and even the comeback of top striker, Diego Costa wasn’t enough to raise their spirit.The first goal came through a swift counter attack,led by De Bruyne who beat Baba Rahman with pace and fed the ball to Aguero whose shot went into the net with a slight deflection off Gary Cahill. Chelsea were all over the place.Expected to improve in the second half,opposite was the case, Mancity continued from where they stopped and in the 54th minute, a fast paced attack,led Nasri to send Aguero through,with just the keeper to beat,he scored,0-2.Chelsea didn’t show any sign of recovering and matters got worse when goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois was sent off for a foul on Fernandinho. Penalty awarded and dispatched by Aguero to claim his hattrick. Chelsea’s abysmal season rumbles on.

Leicester city vs Westham (2-2)

This was a game Leicester city had to win to improve their chances of winning the league but Westham,rather, the refree had other ideas.Jamie Vardy opened the scoring in the first half.He was then sent off in the second half for an alleged dive.The game went on and the same refree awarded a penalty to Westham.Why? For pulling in the box.Indeed.Andy Caroll stepped up and dispatched the penalty.Westham soon scored a second goal.A wonderful rasping shot by Aaron Creswell from outside the box.Leicester city’s title hopes were dented but the refree compensated the Leicester city faithfuls with a late undeserved penalty which was dispatched by Ulloa to savage a draw for Leicester city to move eight points ahead of Tottenham who play on Monday night.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool (1-2)

If you get a vital win over Dortmund,the spirit is bound to be high and that was what happened.Jurrgen Klopp made ten changes to the side that started in midweek but who cares? His side got the job done with goals from Daniel Sturridge and Firmino late in the first half while Joshua King got a consolation for Bournemouth late in the game.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace (1-1)

This was a game Arsenal needed to win but couldn’t get that crucial second goal to kill the game and it came back to haunt them.They pressed with the ball and never gave Palace space when they lost the ball but they didn’t create real chances as Crystal palace defence was resolute.They got their goal late in the first half though as a chip-cross by Welbeck was met by Alexis Sanchez who nodded beyond Hennessey and into the net.The second half started in the same manner with Arsenal passing and probing but couldn’t get the killer second goal and it came back to haunt them as Adebayor who was introduced in the second half drove the ball on the left hand side before laying it for Bolasie who cut inside before sending a rasping shot beyond Petr Cech. Wenger responded by bringing Walcott by they couldn’t find the cutting edge to get the winning goal.
