FOOTBALL: Premier League Weekend Round Up

It was yet another round of interesting fixtures in the Premier league as Leicester city look set to finally claim the title while Manchester united and Manchester city dropped points in the race for the top four and at the bottom,Newcastle continued their form under Benitez with a vital win against Crystal Palace while Norwich and Sunderland dropped points.

West Brom couldn’t capitalise on their impressive draw at White Hart Lane as they lost 3-0 at home to West Ham with goals from Kouyate and two from Noble, Everton finally got a vital 2-1 home win against Bournemouth with Cleverley and Baines scoring in each half to seal the victtory.Jermaine Defoe scored a last minute equaliser for Sunderland to savage a 1-1 draw against Stoke City after Marko Arnautovic had given Stoke the lead in the first half while Andros Townsend scored a wonderful freekick in the second half to help Newcastle to a vital 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in a game which Cabaye missed a penalty.Troy Deeney scored twice late in the game against 10-man relegated Aston Villa to propell Watford to a 3-2 win with Abdi scoring the other goal for Watford while Clark and Ayew scored for Aston Villa.Arsenal laboured to a 1-0 win over Norwich with Danny Welbeck scoring three minutes after coming on in the second half after meeting a chest down from Giroud with a rasping shot into the net.

In the other games, Andre Ayew scored twice as Swansea defeated Liverpool 3-1 at the Liberty stadium with Jack Cork getting the other goal while Benteke got a consolation for Liverpool.Leicester city edged close to the EPL triumph with a vital 1-1 draw at Old trafford.Anthony Martial opened the scoring for Man United early in the game after good work from Valencia on the right while captain, Wes Morgan equalized for Leicester city after meeting a freekick from Drinkwater and nodding past De Gea.In the final game at the weekend, Saido Mane scored a hattrick as Southampton defeated Manchester city 4-2 at home.Shane Long got the other goal while Kelechi Iheanacho scored twice for Manchester city.

Tottenham play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge today, knowing only a win will be sufficient to drive Leicester city all the way till the final day of the season.Interestingly for Leicester city,the last time Tottenham won at Stamford bridge was 26 years ago.Are they about to break that jinx???.Only time will tell in Monday night football in the Premier league.
