FOOTBALL: Premier League Weekend Review

It promises to be another interesting weekend of premier league football with teams pitting their weights against eachother after the international break.While Tottenham and Leicester are in clashes for the title,Astonvilla,Sunderland,Newcastle,Norwich would all be looking to pick up wins to avoid relegation.We therefore look forward to each fixture;

AstonVilla vs Chelsea –

Astonvilla are although not yet mathematicallyy relegated, its just a matter of three/four games before their relegation status is confirmed.Simply put, they’ve been terrible this season. They also parted ways with their coach, Remi Garde this week, leaving assisttant coach Eric Black to take charge till the end of the season.Chelsea on the other hand have picked up themselves since Hiddink came on board, have not lost a premier league game this year, albeit with a lot of draws, and were knocked out of the Champions league and Fa cup by PSG and Everton respectively and so far doesn’t have anything to loose but shouuld go into this game expecting to win this shabby Astonvilla side.Anything other than a Chelsea win here would be surprising.

Arsenal vs Watford – Watford would be buoyed coming into this game after shocking Arsenal by winning thhem in this same ground to qualify for the Fa Cup semi-finals.Arsenal on the other hand would definately have that defeat ringing on their minds ahead of this game and would come out roaring in order to put the game to bed as soon as possible. As much as Arsenal would want to kill the game early, they should definately be wary of the threat of Watford’s strike partnership of Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo.I expect a close game because of Watford’s doggedness but Arsenal should nick this.

Bournemoth vs Man City

Mancity has taken just 11 of 33 points away from home, their home form off-recent too hasnt been impressive, loosing to Leicester,Tottenham and Manutd, also drawing to Norwich city.Bournemoth on the other hand were having a good run until the loss to Tottenham in their last game.Bournemoth are tireless, they run, they get into your face,Mancity on the other hand are neither here nor there.I just hardly see Mancity winning here, they are too inconsistent to bank on.

Norwich vs Newcastle:

This is a real relegation cracker. Both teams bought well during the Januarry transfer window but their teams hasn’t gelled yet.Norwich got a good win in their last game, winning at WestBrom, while Newcastle draw against derby rivals Sunderland and have been hit with the injury to goalkeeper Rob Elliot, Tim Krul has been out since like forever. It’ll be a tough game here but i just sense more misery for Benitez.I just dont see Norwich loosing here.

Stoke vs Swansea

Mark Hughes must be commended for the way he’s converted this team from the Tony Pulis’s boogey style of play to the free flowing style, thereby bringing in players of his taste. His ability to attrack the Shaquiri’s,Bojan,Afellay must be commended.Swansea on the other hand have chipped and chopped this season but has somehow gained momentum at the right time.Anything other than a Stoke win here would be surprising

Sunderland vs WestBrom

This would definately be the last game i think of watching this weekend. Both teams play drab football,Suunderland struggling to stay up while WestBrom just try to chop up the fiield and launch the ball up for the forward.Sunderland definatelyy need a win and would hope Jermaine Defoe is on form to gett the goals.WestBrom on the other hand are so inconsistent and shoow different forms in different games. It could be anybody’s day.

WestHam vs Crystal Palace : Slaven Bilic was angry as Chelsea were awarded a penalty he thinks they didnt deserve last weekend to finally force a draw.Sitting pretty in the 5th spot on the table. He hopes to get into the top four at any slight slipup from any of the teams and anything other than a win herre will dent his hope.Crystal palace on the other hand are shabby.Conceeding goals, not scoring goals, the only team left without a win in the premier league this year. Will they win their first match this year against Westham? i dont think so.Expect Westham to pile more pressure  on teams in the top four with a win here.

Liverpool vs Tottenham

This game is one that is very tough to call.Liverpool can be very good at times but can be very horrible at the same time.Tottenham also dont want to give Leicester city breathing space in their hunt for the title.Where does this go? I just feel it ends in a 1-1 draw with probably Coutinho cancelling out a Hary Kane strike.

Leicester City vs Southampton

Sir Alex Ferguson said Leicester’s togetherness is driving them to success. They are just grinding out results whether playing well or playing badly.Southampton just came off an impressive win against Liverpool and are ready to continue that form.Except a very tough game.I just dont see Leicester city loosing here.

Manchester United vs Everton

Manutd are coming off an impressive win in the Manchester derby,EEverton meanwhile lost it against Arsenal with adrab display. Its definately will be a tough game. Both teams blow hot and cold with ease. The game definately depends on which side decides to show up.Everton conceedes goals and know how to score,Manutd on the otherhand dont know how to score but keeps it tight at the back.A tough game to predict so i say,may the best team win
