The West Ham winger has revealed he has become so good at taking free-kicks that he doesn’t even bother practising them any more.Payet has proven to be something of a dead-ball specialist since arriving in London and has found the back of the net five times directly from free-kicks in the last three months alone.
The French man’s latest was a sublime effort during the Hammers’ 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at Upton Park last Saturday.Payet also notched against Bournemouth, Blackburn, Manchester United before scoring another free-kick for France during the recent international break. And Payet now claims that he has honed the technique to the point that he no longer feels the need to spend hours perfecting it on the training ground.
“I worked very hard on taking them earlier in the season up until the Bournemouth game when I scored.Since that game I have not been practising as I have been happy with the way I am hitting the ball.I was quite lucky against Palace as I did have one free-kick earlier in the game that went over but I saw that the keeper had moved slightly over to the other side so when I had another free-kick I decided to slightly change it and that was a good choice.I must say I was surprised by how the ball travelled and usually I can tell when I hit it if it is going to go in and I can sometimes celebrate before hand but with this one I thought it was going over but it then dropped in”.

“I am enjoying a very good period at the moment in terms of free-kicks. I am full of confidence and that allows me to try out these new things. The ball seems to be going in at the moment which is great for all of us”.
The French man who signed from Marseille in the summer has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season and is leading West Ham’s charge for a place in the top four of the Premier League. He would also be hoping to continue his blistering form and hope he’s part of the French team squad to the Euro’s in the next few months.
