Former Manchester united’s goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel has blasted the clubs display this season, saying United have “bored me to death this season”.
Schmeichel who won five Premier League titles and three FA Cups with United in the 1990s, and was part of the Treble-winning side of 1999 lamented the loss of the team’s signature style and the lack of entertainment on show as United have struggled through the 2015-16 campaign.Speaking to Sky Sports News, he said: “Manchester United, which is a club that I absolutely love and I have followed since I was a little kid, have bored me to death this season.”We are one of those clubs that has been dragged in completely the wrong direction. We never played the way we play football, we never play for a 1-0 and then defend. It is always go for the second, go for the third. “All the hard work that Sir Alex put in to recover what was there from Sir Matt Busby has been undone.I, as a fan, want the team to be first of all winning, but I want them equally as much to entertain.”
To reach the top four United would need to win by 19 clear goals – unlikely, particularly considering that Old Trafford has only borne witness to 32 league goals all season.
