EPL: Everton Unveil New 2016/17 Home Kit

 

Everton have followed Chelsea and Leicester city, in unveiling their home kit for the 2016/17season. The new strip, which will be worn for the first time in Sunday’s home game with Norwich, features the coordinates of the club’s famous, old stadium in the back of the neck of the shirt. EVERTON 1

Designed by Umbro, the new kit is compromised of a shirt in traditional Everton blue, white shorts and white socks. It will go on sale on Saturday, June 4.The shirt, which includes a breathable structured mesh, features a white rib collar with white and yellow detail on the cuffs.The shorts have a blue and yellow trim – similar to the Umbro kit of 1997 – and the socks, which are made with a comfortable cotton footbed, also have a blue and yellow contrast stripe. Everton captain Phil Jagielka said: ‘There’s nothing like playing at Goodison Park in front of our passionate fans and knowing you are following in the footsteps of some of the greatest footballers in the world.The nod to the stadium and its history in the kit is a great touch. I love the detail of having the coordinates on the neck of the shirt.’ Supporters will be hoping their new kit will prove to be lucky when they host already relegated Norwich in their final game of the season on Sunday.And in another nod to the Toffees’ home, the criss-cross architectural signature of Archibald Leitch, who designed the Bullens Road stand, can also be found on next season’s shirt.

Roberto Martinez’s men suffered a 3-0 defeat at Sunderland on Wednesday, four days after they were comfortably beaten 3-1 by champions Leicester at the King Power Stadium.They could still finish as low as 16th if results go against them this weekend and more protests against the manager are expected after recent unrest among fans.
