Midfielder Jack Wilshere is close to joining Bournemouth on a season-long loan after a deal to join Roma was blocked by Arsenal.
The Gunners refused to do business with Roma because of the way they handled a potential move for defender Kostas Manolas earlier this summer.England international Wilshere, 24, held talks with both Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.He has passed his medical with the Cherries on Wednesday.Roma, fifth in Italy’s Serie A after two games, have Wilshere’s Arsenal team-mate Wojciech Szczesny on loan.
Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has undergone a medical at Nice – but negotiations between the two clubs are continuing ahead of tonight’s deadline.
The Italy international has accepted the opportunity to kick-start his career with the Ligue One outfit. However, Nice were keen to sign him on a season-long loan with Liverpool determined to make it a permanent transfer.
Talks were ongoing on Wednesday afternoon with a compromise still expected to be reached.
