Nicholas Ashinze, former special assistant to Sambo Dasuki, the ex National Security Adviser, has sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for detaining him illegally. Ashinze is asking for N500million compensation.
Ashinze, also filed a suit asking an Abuja High court to issue an order declaring his arrest by EFCC since December 23, 2015, unlawful and preventing him from being rearrested.
Mr Nicholas Ashinze, was arrested in December 23, 2015 for his alleged involvement in the diversion of the $2.1 billion arms funds, his boss, Sambo Dasuki, was given and also arrested for.
Ashinze, has been in EFCC custody since his arrest and is yet to be charged to court.
His counsel filed a suit before justice Yusuf Halilu, asking that his client be granted immediate bail and compensated with N500million.
The case has however been adjourned till March 14th.
