Two welders, Monday Godwin (27) and Ochuko Ego (33), have been sentenced to death by hanging by a Delta State High Court for armed robbery.
The convicted robbers were found guilty of robing one Mrs. Romelia Esangbedo of her Toyota Corolla Salon Car while armed with guns.
The convicted armed robbers, who are indigenes of Abraka and Eku respectively, were found guilty of armed robbery and kidnapping. They were sentenced to 5 and 8 years imprisonment each for both offences.
The prosecuting counsel, told the Court that the accused persons along with two others who’s names were given simply as Bestman and Couple, (still at large), attacked the lady at her farm on or before 8th of October, 2012, stole her Toyota Corolla Salon Car, belonging to her banker husband and also held her captive demanding a ransom from her husband before she could be released.
Timely intervention of security operatives luckily led to her rescue the next day at Aghalokpe, the same area the car was stolen.
