Columbia Defeat Paraguay To Advance As USA Smash Costa Rica

Columbia defeated Paraguay to progress to the next round of the Copa America with James Rodriguez inspiring the team to victory.

Bacca proved crucial for the goal after storming into the box, confusing the defense that failed to prevent the ball from ending right before James’ left foot to make it 1-0.Paraguay shortly after nearly scored as Paulo Da Silva flicked a shot over Colombia goalie David Ospina, but was flagged for offside.The losing Paraguayans were able to take more control of the game in the second half and nearly scored again in the 62nd minute, but Ospina was able to flip the ball from the top corner over the bar.

Colombia switched to more defensive football over the second half, but were still able to come out dangerous.20 minutes before the final whistle, Bacca  again  shoots the ball in the Paraguayan net, but is also flagged offline.It took the Paraguayans less than two minutes to put the pressure back on Colombia’s side after Victor Yala from 25 meters shoots the ball into the corner behind Ospina.The goal fired up the game, creating changes for both sides, but none with result.

USA got three goals came in the opening half as the hosts set the tone against Costa Rica, looked sharp and produced more chances in attack, this time actually finishing them. Clint Dempsey, Jermaine Jones, Bobby Wood and Graham Zusi all found the net for the U.S., while the defense was attentive and strong throughout in a performance that erases early concerns and adds plenty of optimism.
