Chelsea, has agreed to a £24m deal with Fiorentina for Marcos Alonso.
The Chelsea manager has been keen to add a new left-back to his squad after allowing the Ghana international Baba Rahman to join Schalke on loan this month, with the former Real Madrid and Bolton defender Alonso now identified as his primary target.
Negotiations have been continuing for days, with Fiorentina expected to accept a renewed offer for the 25-year-old. Alonso is understood to have agreed personal terms and is keen on a return to the Premier League.
Chelsea’s search for a new central defender remains unresolved after bids for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli were rejected. They may now attempt to bring in a player on loan to provide short-term cover.
Juan Cuadrado looks likely to depart Stamford Bridge on loan after Juventus advanced negotiations for the Colombia winger. Cuadrado, who joined Chelsea last year for an initial £23.3m, spent last season in Turin.
