Breaking News: Two Dead As Armed Robbers Attack CBN Bullion Vans In Jos

Two police officers of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) were today, August 16, 2016, killed at Hawan Kibo along Jos – Abuja road by armed robbers  who attacked a convoy of billions vans belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to Punch, the bullion vans and their retinue of armed mobile policemen escorts had left Jos in the early hours of Tuesday enroute Abuja.

The attack reportedly occurred somewhere along Hawan Kibo, immediately after a military check point.

The said armed robbers, wearing military uniforms, emerged from a bush and attacked a patrol team belonging the Plateau State security outfit, “Operation Rainbow”, attached to Riyom local government, killing a mobile policeman on the spot, Punch reports.

The armed robbers reportedly opened fire on the CBN convoy after it ran into them at about 8.30 am.

The attack left a policeman identified as Sgt. Anthony Jawa, from Mobile Police Squad (MOPOL) 8, Jos, who was in the CBN convoy, dead.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP, ASP Tyopev Terna,maintained that he was yet to receive the full report from Riyom divisional police, adding that some policemen were killed, but that he did not know the number.
