Barcelona have reached an aggrement with Lyon for the signing of centre back Samuel Umtiti with the defender set to undergo a medical after the Euros.
The Frenchman has been on the Spanish champions’ radar for some time now, and after long drawn out negotiations, they have finally settled on an agreement.Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has echoed the same, but also revealed that the club had not agreed terms with the player just yet.
He was quoted by Dario Sport‘s Sam Mardsen saying: “We have reached an agreement with Lyon for €25m for Umtiti, but still need to finalise things with the player.”
Earlier this week, Lyon club president Jean-Michel Aulas told the press that he expected the player to leave any time soon.
“We anticipate the eventual departure of Umtiti. Samuel has an exclusive agreement for him to join Barcelona,” he said.

“We made a promise that if he could play for the club of his heart, he would leave. It’s part of the commitment which we have made, as was done for Karim Benzema when he went to Real Madrid.
“Right now, Samuel is with Les Bleus and is focused on the Euro and the fact that he can play Sunday against Iceland. If the three parties agree, it is possible that he will leave us.”
Umtiti made 37 appearances for the Ligue 1 club last season, recording one goal.
