Reports from Cameroonian health and security officials on Monday, has confirmed that the suicide bomber who was recently arrested has began receiving treatment.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Garba Shehu, via a statement on Monday said that the girl, who claims to be part of the 219 Chibok girls abducted 2 years ago, was arrested with lots of bodily injuries and appeared that she had been heavily drugged before setting out on her mission.
The statement also revealed that the girl who appeared to be between the ages of 9-12, due to her injuries was unable to reach far north regional capital of Cameroon, Maroua, as earlier planned. She and her accomplice spoke only the Kanuri Language.
According to Malam Garba:
Considering the well-known guidelines regarding the publication of photography of minors, we have decided to forward the pictures of the suspected bomber to the Murtala Mohammed Foundation for verification by interested Chibok community stakeholders.
The Ministry of Women Affairs, the Nigerian High Commission in Cameroon and other agencies of government will continue to work together with other stakeholders to verify all the issues.
