5 Times Buhari Has Failed Nigerians Since He Became The President

Back in 2014,citizens of this great country rally around Muhammdu Buhari and All Progressive Congress (APC) showing so much support for the self- acclaimed messiah. Little did they know that the path they had chosen might not be a rosy one.

It has been over a year since Buhari was sworn in as the President and we all can agree there has not been much transformation (change) in the country.

Need I say truly Buhari has been fighting corruption and maintaining diplomacy with many of the 3rd world countries, howbeit, the President has failed in so many ways considering the prospect he had.

Listed here are the 5 major times President Buhari has failed this country and its citizen

1 Chibok Girls Rescue

President Buhari, during his campaign lambast ex- President Jonathan for being too soft in the war against Boko Haram, Buhari, being a former Army General believe he will he can do better in rescuing the 276 female students kidnapped from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State on the 14th of April 2014. It has been over two years and Nigeria is yet to rescue 10% of the adopted girls.

2 Economic Recessions

Since May 2015, President Buhari and his Technocrats have made several abortive measures to diversify the economy. Countless of time the Buhari and his aides blames Goodluck Jonathan for the economic woes. While addressing the nation in May 2016, Buhari said “national squander, bad governance, unbridled corruption and economic woes by the previous administration has put Nigeria in debt.”

3 Election Rigging

Buhari rode to power on an election described not only as free, but the people’s mandate. However since he gained power, Buhari has failed to continue the transparency that was shown during the presidential election. Recall that elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, Imo as well as Rivers state inconclusive leaving a trail of violence.

4 Ethnic And Religious Battle

It is indeed a suprise to see the rise of Fulani Herdsmen as well as Niger Delta Avengers. Jonathan spent so much time and effort trying to conquer Islamic sect, Boko Haram which constantly disrupted his governance. However, barely two years into Buhari’s administration, Nigeria has witnessed so much ethnic violence in some states. This says a lot about Buhari’s ability to maintain unity among the tribes.

5 Discriminatory Appointments against Non-Muslims in Nigeria

According to report 38 out of the 48 major appointments under President Buhari goes to the Northern hemisphere of the country. Many believe Buhari is bias when making executive appointments.  Buhari seems to have surrounded himself with only people from his tribes. For a country like Nigeria with more than 300 ethnic group, such move is a huge let down to citizens who voted for you.

The aforementioned failures will mar Buhari come 2019 because Nigerians will definitely run out of patience for poor governance.
